1960's: Early education in experimental school. In 5th grade, teacher moves his desk away from the other students because his constant drawing is distracting. 1970's: High school, develops interest in social issues; starts freelancing as graphic artist and illustrator. 1980's: Cartoons for The Columbus Free Press; illustration and poster art for punk rock bands and clubs; works with Yyippies in New York City illustrating for the publication, Overthrow and the book, Blacklisted News; begins shift from illustration to painting. 1990's: Works at Columbus Ohio alternative non-profit art gallery, Acme Art Co; begins producing and exhibiting first of many "series" paintings. 2000's: Completes series of 1,500 small 'wild beast' paintings; begins shifting to larger-scale works. Currently: Continuing on larger scale works and experimentation, including the use of 3D elements in painting. |
